I entered a screenplay contest for the first time yesterday, and now I’m feeling very anxious about it. I’m nervous because I do not think I’m a good writer, and I do not think I have a very good chance of winning. The only reason that I entered is because my mom told me she thought I was talented. I absolutely disagree with my mother and I do not think that I have any talent at all. In fact I think I’m completely lacking talent in writing. Perhaps I have some talents in some other areas, but certainly not as a writer. I do not know why I wasted all of my time writing this script in order to enter it into the contest that I’m just going to lose. My mom always tells me that I need to be more optimistic but I think I’m just being real about it. You cannot live life fooling yourself into thinking you were going to win contests when you’re always going to fail.
